Invictus [F1] Round 3: British Grand Prix - 12th July 2017

IRL F1 World Championship
Round 3
British Grand Prix

Invictus World Championship continues its European leg; Round 3 brings us to the home of British Motorsport, Silverstone. As a result of Brooklands Oval being severely damaged during World War II, the circuit was abandoned. From then on most British circuits were being built on disused Royal Air Force airfields, and Silverstone, located in Northamptonshire in central England, was one of those circuits which hosted its first race in October 1948; the Royal Automobile Club International Grand Prix.

After a new pit building, the Silverstone Wing, was completed in time for the 2011 race, the start of the track was relocated to between Club Corner and Abbey Corner. Almost flat out, the right-hander of Abbey leads immediately into the left-hander of Farm before cars brake heavily into the second gear, right-handed turn three; Village Corner. The even slower left-hander of the Loop comes immediately after, and leads into the flat-out left-hander of Aintree, before cars head down the DRS zone of the Wellington Straight. Turn 6, the left hander of Brooklands, is taken by drivers and leads immediately into Luffield, another second gear curve; a right-hand hairpin. The right-handed kink of Woodcote leads cars down the old pit straight, before the difficult sixth-gear right-hander of Copse, with a minimum speed of 175 mph in the dry for Formula One cars. Then, the challenging complex of Maggotts, Becketts and Chapel lead cars down the 770-metre Hangar Straight with the fifth-gear right-hander of Stowe at the end. The fifteenth turn of the track, Stowe, has a minimum speed of 125 mph and precedes a short straight, named Vale, which leads cars downhill towards the Club complex. Heavy braking is required for the left-hander of turn 16, and understeer can be an issue for the next right-handers of turns 17 and 18, as cars tentatively accelerate round to the start-finish straight.

The Spanish Grand Prix began in controversial fashion with Miles experiencing engine failure on the grid which prevented him from starting the Race and resulted in a Safety Car. In Turn 1 saw Ferrari driver Mike and Yarhamm in the Manor making contact. It was also disaster for Driver's Championship Leader FabulousChicken as he failed to finish the race with a terminal failure in the Hybrid engine which has allowed Mike to take over the lead. New additions BWAClyde and Fascone will be delighted to score points in their first Invictus League Race. But the most jubilant were Mercedes who saw their driver Sirspud achieve his very first race win. Will this result in Sirspud mounting a serious challenge for the Driver's Title?

Race win, Spudster again.
F1 2017, just can't wait to take those classic cars out for a spin.
Kyvat, I reckon he will be at Toro Rosso for another season Ye.
British GP, it's a track I have always enjoyed. A classic old style track with fast flowing corners. I am hoping for a top 10 and not to get lapped like in Spain.

I have concerns about the handling model and I hope it gets resolved prior to release.

Do you think Kvyat will last another season on F1?
He'll be very lucky if he does get another year. It will be interesting to see what happens with driver movement.

What are your hopes for the British Grand Prix?
I'm hoping for a top 3 finish but it'll be difficult in the Torro Rosso.

Q - P10
I did some TT before the race and I can't setup the Williams, it is so different to drive compared
to the Ferrari or Red Bull.
So going into the Quali when I saw the weather I was thinking i am so slow I will try 1 stop
and with only 10 cars + 1 commentator I thought it would be best to start on fresh Hards.

R - P3
I started on the Hards and had a really bad start I overtook only the commentator car :)
I wanted to conserve my tyres and not battle on the first stint but my wear was really high which
wasn't good and I think it got to do with my setup modifications.
Then people started to make mistakes and I took advantage, I knew i will stay out the longest because I
was the only car starting on Hards.
But wear being high I was getting slower and slower and wear being almost 80% I decided to pit for Mediums and go with
them untill the rain comes so i was hoping for the rain to come ASAP.
When it finally started to rain i knew we will need to do a few laps before it's time for Inters, behind me was LIP with newer tyres
and he was catching me bit by bit and when we came out of the pits on the Inters i made a really silly mistake and it allowed LIP
to pass me. The conditions where tricky and I noticed that some decided not to pit for Inters I knew I and LIP will catch them.
Still pissed at myself for getting 3 secs penalty it was actually stupid i got 2 warnings entering Becketts on lean because the car turned a bit
more than i was used to.
I am delighted to get a second Silverstone podium in IRL.

I hope more people join us, because it's really fun racing.

And too bad HRacingGreen got DSC because the final laps were intense and i think would be entertaining to watch.
