Invictus [F1] Round 2: Spanish Grand Prix - 5th July 2017
« on: July 01, 2017, 11:06:20 am »
IRL F1 World Championship
Round 2
Spanish Grand Prix

Invictus Racing League begins it's European leg of the World Championship, starting with the Spanish Grand Prix. Formula One teams are no strangers to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Familiarity does not, however, lessen the challenge for car or driver. Barcelona's mix of high- and low-speed corners, plus its abrasive and rather bumpy track surface, makes for a physically and mechanically taxing race. Tyre wear is particularly high and the varying winds that cut across the circuit mean an optimum set-up can be hard to find.

For spectators Turn 1 (also known as Elf corner) is among the best places to watch, as it is one of the track's few overtaking opportunities. For the drivers it is the final two turns, known collectively as New Holland, which provide one of the biggest challenges of the season. A fast exit is essential in order to maximise speed down the start-finish straight into Elf.

FabulousChicken scored the first win of IRL's second season with Mike and Malc completing the Podium. Craig and Phil's races ended in heart-breaking fashion; Craig received a puncture on the penultimate corner, dropping to 4th from 2nd and Phil's race ended after a technical failure. New addition LKO299 recovered well to finish 7th after a disastrous start while Miles will rue his missed opportunity of a Podium finish after receiving Terminal Damage.

Possible new additions Odemdemz and Maxytee may join Invictus for the Spanish Grand Prix if Driver testing proves successful. Mike will be hoping to go one better and score a race win, while Yarhamm, Shortbread and Sambamkid will be hoping to turn their race-pace into a race victory. Malc, Miles, Dayo and Sirspud will be hoping to get into the mix and kick-start their Championship aspirations.

Predictions - Pole, Race Winner, Fastest Lap, Podium Finishers?
What are your thoughts on the Chinese Grand Prix?
Do you think Vettel will receive further punishment? Do you think he should?

Pole - Spud, Phil or FabChicken Spud, Spud, Chicken, Phil

What are your thoughts on the Chinese Grand Prix?
Oh after the first 4 laps i thought that's it i had a very bad broken wing and i was down to i think last,
but then the safety car rescued my race i pitted for fresh inters and went to the end and I profited massively
by people getting punctures or just pitting and the result was just amazing.

Do you think Vettel will receive further punishment? Do you think he should?
Maybe and I think it was enough.

Pole - Spud, Race Winner - Spud, Fastest Lap - Miles, Podium Finishers - Miles and Mike

What are your thoughts on the Chinese Grand Prix?
It went well for me :) I don't think I would have won if Phil hadn't retired though.

Do you think Vettel will receive further punishment? Do you think he should?
Maybe and no. We should just move on at this point ffs
I'm probably better at Rocket League tbh

pole, winner, fast lap, podium
Philip, Philip, sir spud, Philip, spud, LK
Im confident coming into spain despite not being my fastest track the extra practice monday helping with the test race will give me the speed I need to finally challenge for top spots. The calender doesn't look too good for me so grabbing points now is going to be huge.
Thoughts on chinese GP
I was fuming with my mistakes. I profitied with plenty of retirements and look to put it behind me and come back stronger.
Should Vettel get more punishment?
Hell....YEA

Predictions - Pole, Race Winner, Fastest Lap, Podium Finishers?
Pole - xMikexSI
Race Winner - Dayo
Fastest Lap - xMikexSI
Podium - Phil (if he can make it). If not Miles and Mike.

What are your thoughts on the Chinese Grand Prix?
Absolutely gutted to lose 2nd on the last corner due to a puncture, but on the plus side if it wasn't for the SC I would've been no-where.

Do you think Vettel will receive further punishment? Do you think he should?
It should really have been dealt with on the day rather than being dragged out. The Championship should be decided on the race-track, not in a steward's office.

Q - P2
I couldn't get one good lap, I did some quali practice before the race in quick race and I had no problem
doing 21.3-5 with the Ferrari.
But in the real quali I couldn't get one good lap on the tarmac, with the mediums i didn't warm them up OK and I wasn't
aggressive enough. Then went out on the Softs and totally botched middle of sector 2 and the whole sector 3 section
as on the last Soft attempt,
but I knew I had good race pace I was OK with taking P2.

R - P3

Start was OK i knew i couldn't overtake LK i backed off but then a racing accident happened and I was spun off track,
I let also Yarhamm through because he also suffered from my spin as he had a good start and was right behind.
Then the safety car went out, I made a tactical error not to pit for Mediums and I opted to stay on my Softs which i thoght will be quicker than people
on mediums or hards, I found myself at P7 at the restart I gained a few places and on lap 10 i went into the pit for the hards which i took to the end,
my hards were very used when LK came with fresh hards out of the pits I had no answer so he easily overtook me
out of the last corner because he had much better traction coming out and I settled for P3.

I am happy for Spud, he drove a perfect race without any mistakes and he deserves this victory!
