STEWARD'S OFFICE

INVICTUS F1 RACE STEWARDS

CRAIG
IPSWICH
HULKENBURGER

Welcome to Invictus Racing League's Steward's Office

Post videos of incidents during races which have occurred between yourself and other drivers. We expect that issues raised are posted in a respectful and mature manner. Time penalties and wrongful illegal overtake penalties will be resolved by your league admin, approach them directly via pm.

Derogatory posts which involve finger pointing or those which are intended to instigate an argument will be removed and will not be considered. Stewards will examine all evidence provided which relate to each incident and will post the conclusion of their findings.

Guidelines

Drivers should post video evidence of any incident occurring between themselves and other drivers.  If the video is long or covers more than just the incident in question (more than a couple of minutes, e.g. a live stream) then the specific times of the incidents in the video must be given.

Time penalties due to game glitches (e.g. illegal overtake penalties under false yellow flag) should be resolved with the league admin, not the stewards.

In-game applied time penalties for corner cutting will not be removed unless under exceptional circumstances.

The stewards will post decisions publically in the thread.  It is the responsibility of the league admins and affected drivers to check the stewards office thread for penalties applicable to themselves or their league.

In exceptional circumstances the stewards can intervene and apply actions/penalties if an incident occurs but is not officially reported or appealed by another driver, e.g. if something is observed whilst viewing other footage or a race stream.

Actions/Penalties Available

Depending on the severity of an incident, the stewards can apply the following penalties:

Normal levels of punishment:

No action
Reprimand
1 Position Penalty
2 Position Penalty
4 Position Penalty
DSQ

Special Decisions:

Verbal Warning
Suspended From Next Race(s)
Suspended/Banned from League(s)

Accumulation

Penalty for driver who does not finish => penalty applied to next race
3 reprimands in same season => 1 pos. penalty in next race
6 reprimands in same season => 2 pos. penalty in next race

At last race in season, next race penalties apply to that last race instead.

3 penalties in same race => DSQ
Mixture of 4+ reprimands/penalties => possible DSQ at stewards discretion
3+ penalties in same season => stewards investigate driver

Scenarios

Causing a collision.

This category includes:

Causing a collision while overtaking or defending
Forcing a driver to take drastic evasive action to avoid a collision
Not leaving another driver space to stay on the track

Category

No Advantage/Position given back

Tiny or unclear collision, not clearly their fault, allowed enough space - NO ACTION
Smaller collision/mistake, not reckless, quick recovery (<5 seconds) - NO ACTION
Bigger collision/mistake, somewhat reckless move, slow recovery (>5 seconds) - REPRIMAND
Very big collision, reckless accident - 1 position penalty
Massive crash, taking out many cars. A Maldonado. - 2 / 4 position penalty

Taking advantage

Tiny or unclear collision, not clearly their fault, allowed enough space. - REPRIMAND
Smaller collision/mistake, not reckless, quick recovery (<5 seconds) - 1 POSITION PENALTY
Bigger collision/mistake, somewhat reckless move, slow recovery (>5 seconds) - 2 POSITION PENALTY
Very big collision, reckless accident - 2/4 POSITION PENALTY
Massive crash, taking out many cars. A Maldonado. - 4 POSITION PENALTY
Responsible for a collision which results in the other car receiving Terminal Damage (Retirement). - Disqualification from Race Results and One-Race Ban

Giving position back reduces punishment by around 2 levels. A half-effort to wait/give back the position could reduce punishment by 1 level.

All dependent on severity, judged on these factors:

● reckless or dangerous manoeuvre?
● scale of collision (minor tap vs punted off track, side-on squeeze vs tap from behind) and damage
● how obvious it was that culprit caused the collision / that it was their fault
● time lost by all cars ○ no action typically requires less than 5 seconds lost + position given back
● number of cars involved

Causing a collision by losing control

A driver losing control e.g. due to wheelspin is less serious, especially if colliding with a driver behind who is trying an overtake.

● No advantage or position given back: no action
● Taking advantage but swift recovery: reprimand
● Taking advantage, other car severely disadvantaged: 1 position penalty
● Consider whether the driver behind should have slowed down/avoided the accident.

Unsafe return to track

This category also includes dangerous/reckless pit exits.

● Little or no time lost by any driver ○ first offense: verbal warning ○ subsequent offenses: reprimand
● Some time lost by drivers taking evasive action: reprimand
● Caused a collision or drastic evasive action: 1 pos penalty / 2 pos penalty

Unsafe recovery on track

This category includes recovering after an accident, or any other move on track which causes a driver to take minor evasive action. If a driver goes only slightly off track (e.g. onto kerbs/astroturf) after a small mistake, consider it a recovery not a return to track.

● Little or no time lost by any driver: no action
● Some time lost by drivers taking evasive action ○ first offense: verbal warning ○ subsequent offenses: reprimand
● Caused a collision or drastic evasive action: reprimand / 1 pos penalty / 2 pos penalty

Rage-quitting

● First offense: verbal warning
● Subsequent offenses: reprimand, if we are certain it was a rage-quit.

Verbal Conduct

● If a driver is hit by an overtaking driver who then drives on, he should speak up with a neutral sentence: “You hit me there, ____”, or “I felt contact there, ____”
● No more discussion is wanted
● Swearing is ok, but swearing at another driver is not.

Action can be taken for arguing or distracting other drivers on teamspeak:

● First offense: verbal warning
● Subsequent offenses: reprimand

Notes for the Stewards

Stewards are responsible for regularly checking the Steward's Office thread on the forum and initiating group discussions using the private messaging system.

As the stewards volunteer their own time and not everyone can be available all the time, if at least 2 stewards can agree on a decision and actions or penalties to be applied (assuming that the other stewards have not responded or objected to the decision), the decision can be considered final and posted publically.

IRL F1 World Championship
Round 1
Bahrain Grand Prix

IRL begins it's very first race under the midnight sky of Bahrain, at the Sakhir circuit. A track consisting of giant run-off areas has resulted in the track receiving criticism for not punishing drivers who stray off the track, making some believe that Bahrain is one of the safest tracks in the world. The DRS zone is on the pit straight at the Bahrain Grand Prix, so turn 1 is the prime overtaking opportunity. The corner itself is incredibly tight; although the width of the track further adds to the overtaking possibilities.
